I never paid much attention to the dates on autographed copies of Pelley’s books. I did recall having an autographed original edition of his second novel “The Fog” which I recently ran across. The date on this one is inscribed Pasadena, Cal., Aug 8, 1923.
I dont own a copy so i had to read a PDF version, but I recently read 'The Fog' and a little bit of 'The Greater Glory', I really liked it. It pushed me to get physical copies of WDP's books. The only place I could find them was online. They're (relatively) recently published but at least I found them. The one I'm struggling to find is 'Drag' but I really like his writing style and enjoy the stories he had to tell.
They are good stories. At some point I will transcribe samples of his Paris, Vermont short fiction to offer a taste of his fiction style. Quite nice. There were a few of the late American Magazine short stories that I had trouble tracking down but finally got copies a few years ago. Thanks for reading.
Small town melodrama... rather anti-"Main Street" affairs celebrating the triumphs of little America. Good stuff in line with Harold Bell Wright. I read someone somewhere recently refer to him as a Booth Tarkington wannabe. But, honestly, who's talking about Booth Tarkington in 2022?

The Fog recently digitized and even formatted for Kindle by Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/70037
Can WDP's novels be easily characterized regarding plots and writing style? I've never read any of them.
