Ten or twelve years ago I sold a swath of loose Valor magazine issues on eBay for the “buy it now” price of $27 a piece. Other times I have seen loose issues of the rare Blue Lectures sell for $120 each.
Not only do I have complete sets of some Pelley publications, I have extras… and, thanks to the escalation of personal matters stemming from this very project, I also have debts.
Across the decades I have been allowed to possess and dispose of nearly 3 personal libraries worth of Pelley material. In each case, I parted with those books, magazines and ephemera only after much soul-searching. Had I done as much to absorb and be enriched by the contents of those publications as possible? Were they finding a good home?
Now I think I can let go of some parts of my current, and largest, collection.
I may start with the large format “Over Here” magazines. Most of these have never been scanned and included in other archives, so if I do the work of scanning individual issues and preparing detailed content descriptions here, I feel I am justified in offering them for say $33 an issue, with the understanding that this money helps the work continue.
I will post these listings as public entries so that anyone wishing to purchase a certain copy will get a month subscription to go along with it.
Details to be worked out, but this is my thinking now to generate a small amount of income from this project.
Thoughts? Comments? Please… chime in.
Hi Vance, great idea!
Being as such in another country with a challenge to access libraries in the USA, I would love the opportunity to obtain copies or any of the extras you are willing you offer. Look forward to it.
Thank you!
Hey Vance, I haven't been able to check in on the project for a while but we've had some back and forth over the years about Pelley and I'd love to expand my own collection at some point and would have no issue paying for some copies of stuff you have. I have most all of Pelley's books (barring some of the Soulcraft ones, which I plan to rectify in the near future) but almost no magazines and only ~10 or so pamphlets so I still have a lot of room to grow.
Hope all is well and I look foward to catching up on some of the recent posts!
