I could write an academic account of Chief Pelley. I have some formal training and experience writing all the proper footnotes, following etiquette and all that. Scott Beekman and a dozen other grad students have done it that way. I’m much more comfortable writing a memoir. But who am I to write a memoir of William Dudley Pelley?
