It pleases me that we have a wide enough readership, or at least a few dedicated collectors, so that when I give a heads-up about something for sale on eBay it usually gets sold right away.
Today I got a notification about a few books from the same seller. They must have inherited a library or picked up a box at an estate sale. That’s usually how multiple WDP titles come up for sale.
Submitted for your approval, the 1st, orange hardcover, edition of (Why I Believe) The Dead Are Alive. Not only is it one of the most captivating titles of any Pelley book, something sure to jump out from the shelf when nosy house guests come browsing, it is written in simple introductory language.
In my estimate this is Pelley 101. You get a sample of his prose and immersion into his core strangeness. I love this book and have purchased multiple copies over the years. I have given away half-a-dozen various editions to close friends.
I believe this is the only book he got out in 1942, the year he went to prison.
At $20? You can’t go wrong. If it’s gone by the time you check, this post still serves as a reminder to add this title to your want list.
