Pelley's Speeches to the Silver Legion
In about 2008 I had a lemon of a laptop. It started overheating after a month or so and was never quite right after that. I had it just long enough to pile up a few files before I retired it. Those files had been copied to a disk which represented a gap of, we’ll say, six months in my research.
Wouldn’t you know it, those were very active Pelley research months. I never copied those files to my next computer and the disk got mislaid.
I found it today! It is full of material I remember but hadn’t set eyes on for 16 years.
It includes a lot of Pelley scans and photos which I had referenced in the old Yahoo! group, but those attachments were small, if they existed at all. Remember when you had to resize image files because download times were so slow and nearly everyone was still on dial-up?
One of the most exciting things I found was a scan of the introductory brochure “What You Should Know About the Pelley Publishers,” circa 1938.

I must have owned different editions of this brochure at some point, because I swore for years that it contained an ad for Pelley’s speeches. The text I had transcribed did not.
I’m glad to say I was right! Here are the images I found today which bear me out.
