Chief Pelley knew the importance of leaving a paper trail. In this digital age I think we’ve lost that. I sent a mere handful of Christmas cards last December because most of the old ones who were sure to reciprocate are dead.
Since pledging to myself to write more every day, this newsletter now has probably more than even my most avid fellow Pelleyites have had time to read.
I’ve also kept comments turned off while I focus on building up some word chains, seeding the search engines and waiting for the inevitable disagreement that the very name Pelley invites.
How about this? As a week one reader, and hopefully subscriber, to the American Archvillain newsletter, let me send you a small keepsake.
DON’T put your mailing address in the comments, no, don’t do that! We’ll handle this in two parts.
COMMENT on this post at the SubStack website. Let me know what angle you’d like to see in future essays. Which articles posted thus far were a hit, which ones fell short, and what you’d like to see more of. Also, any little thing that has crossed your mind while reading here.
THEN! Send an email with subject line PELLEY to archvillain@substack.com and include your mailing address. The postman will soon bring you something special from Buncombe County, North Carolina, birthplace of the Silvershirts.
This will help page visibility and, most importantly, encourage me to keep at it.
A member of Pelley's immediate family told me that WDP was a very powerful trance medium. He held seances in the family's Noblesville garage. This relative did not believe in spirits but said that there was definitely something happening when WDP contacted the beyond. Do you have any info about this aspect of Pelley's life?
Hey Vance,
I'd like to see something about Murphy Ranch, and am also curious about Silver Shirt history in the Los Angeles area.
